Intro
Eldfisk B-FL denotes the fluid handling or facilities load area associated with the Eldfisk B platform — a combined drilling, wellhead and process jacket installed in 1976 and producing from 1979. It supported integrated fluid separation and handling for the Eldfisk field before centralisation of processing on Eldfisk S.
Field
The Eldfisk field produces oil and gas from Late Cretaceous and early Paleocene chalk in the Hod, Tor and Ekofisk Formations. Discovery in 1970 led to a multi-platform development including A (wellhead/process), B (PDQ) and FTP, with later facilities for water injection and centralised processing.
Facilities
Eldfisk B supported production wells and integrated fluid handling and processing including separation and dehydration. Its structural jacket supported drilling and production manifolds, separation vessels and initial gas conditioning units. Produced fluids were routed through the Eldfisk complex into export pipelines and to the Ekofisk centre for onward export via Norpipe. With the installation of Eldfisk S, many processing functions have been rationalised, and B’s remaining infrastructure focuses on well support, fluid routing, and interfaces to current processing facilities. Utilities include onboard power, water handling systems, and control modules, integrated into fieldwide control and safety networks.
