Intro

Yme WHM (Wellhead Module) is a fixed steel wellhead installation located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, Block 9/2. Installed in 2016 as part of the Yme redevelopment, it supports production and injection wells tied back to the Yme Mobile Offshore Production Unit (MOPU). The installation has no processing or accommodation facilities.

Field

The Yme oil field lies in the Egersund Basin of the North Sea. Discovered in 1987, it produces oil from Paleocene sandstone reservoirs. After an earlier development was abandoned, the field was redeveloped using a wellhead platform and a mobile production unit to reduce structural risk and cost.

Facilities

The WHM supports multiple oil production and water injection wells with surface wellheads and manifolds. Well fluids are routed via subsea flowlines to the nearby Yme MOPU for full processing and export. Facilities on the WHM are limited to well control, chemical injection for flow assurance, pressure and temperature monitoring, and safety shutdown systems. The installation is normally unattended and remotely operated from the MOPU control room. Utilities such as power and communications are supplied via subsea umbilicals. Safety systems include emergency shutdown valves, fire and gas detection, and isolation systems. The fixed steel jacket and compact topsides are designed for long-term service with minimal intervention, reflecting its role as a dedicated wellhead structure rather than a processing hub.
