Intro
Martin Linge A is the primary fixed production and wellhead platform for the Martin Linge field in the northern North Sea. Commissioned in 2021, it processes oil, gas and condensate from the field’s Middle Jurassic reservoirs. The platform links to a floating storage unit (Martin Linge B) and subsea production infrastructure, and is powered via a long subsea cable from shore.
Field
The Martin Linge field lies ~42-km west of the Oseberg area in the northern North Sea. Discovered in 1978 and developed under a 2012 PDO, it produces mainly rich gas and condensate from Brent Group sandstones with associated oil from Eocene Frigg Formation. The field’s reservoirs are high-pressure and high-temperature, requiring robust design and tie-backs to Martin Linge A.
Facilities
Martin Linge A comprises a fully integrated fixed production and wellhead platform supporting multiple production and injection wells drilled into the field’s reservoirs. Topside processing separates multi-phase fluid into oil, gas, and water streams; gas is conditioned and tied into export pipelines, while liquids are stabilized and sent to the Martin Linge B floating storage unit for periodic offloading to shuttle tankers. Subsea infrastructure includes templates, flowlines, and umbilicals connecting wellheads to the platform. Utilities include power supplied from shore, water and gas injection systems for reservoir management, flare and emergency shutdown systems, and integrated control suites. Living quarters and safety systems support long-term manned operations. The design incorporates redundancy in processing trains and export interfaces, with metering and custody transfer equipment for export streams.
