Intro

Armada refers to the central fixed platform hub in the Armada gasfield complex in the Central North Sea on the UK Continental Shelf. Commissioned in the late 1990s, the installation processes gas and condensate from the Fleming, Drake and Hawkins fields and receives tie-backs such as Rev and Gaupe from adjacent Norwegian blocks. It performs primary separation and compression for export.

Field

Armada gasfields lie in the central North Sea, discovered in the early 1980s and developed through the 1990s. The complex produces natural gas with associated condensate from Palaeocene and Jurassic sandstone reservoirs, delivered via subsea wells to the hub. Nearby tie-backs from Norwegian fields (Rev, Gaupe) augment supply. Exports are directed via the Central Area Transmission System (CATS) pipeline to Teesside, UK.

Facilities

The Armada hub comprises a single fixed platform with topsides for multi-well reception, first-stage separation of gas/condensate, dehydration and booster compression for export into the CATS pipeline. Gas export goes to Teesside; condensate goes via the Forties Pipeline System to Grangemouth. The platform structure supports drilling slots for host and tie-back wells and includes accommodation modules, utility systems for power, water treatment and process control. Subsea tie-backs from Norwegian sector fields use umbilicals and flowlines to deliver wellstreams into the Armada processing train. The installation’s utilities integrate flare, safety and control systems standard to central North Sea hubs designed for long-term gas handling.
