Intro
K5A and K5B are wellhead and satellite gas platforms in the Dutch North Sea K5a/K5b blocks, installed mid-1990s. They gather natural gas from multiple wells and feed central processing infrastructure within the K4/K5 area.
Field
The K05a-B conventional gas field comprises reservoirs in shallow North Sea waters producing gas from Permian Slochteren formation. The field development includes multiple small platforms tied into a central processing and export network.
Facilities
K5A/B consist of steel jacket structures with well slots and subsea completions. They function as collection hubs that route unprocessed gas to a central processing platform (e.g., K5P or equivalent). There are no large separation trains on K5A/B; instead, basic metering and flow control equipment is installed. Export of collected gas occurs via subsea pipelines integrated into the K-area infrastructure, leading to onshore export lines. Control and utility systems enable remote operations, safety shutdown, and communication with central processing installations.
