Intro
F2-A-Hanze is a steel Gravity Base Structure (GBS) production platform in Block F2a of the Dutch North Sea, installed around 2001 for oil and associated gas production. It handles processing, storage, and export, with integrated wellheads and topsides. Oil is stored in the GBS and offloaded via shuttle tankers; gas is processed and exported via a pipeline into the NOGAT system.
Field
The Hanze field is a conventional offshore oil and gas accumulation in the Dutch North Sea’s Block F2a, discovered in 1996. Reservoirs include fractured Cretaceous chalk with associated gas; production began in the early 2000s. The field is one of the larger small-field developments in Dutch waters, producing both liquids and gas with dedicated offshore infrastructure.
Facilities
F2-A-Hanze’s facilities are built around a heavy steel GBS that supports an integrated production deck with separation, oil stabilization, gas handling, and power systems. The gravity base also functions as crude storage, with a capacity around 150,000-bbl; oil is periodically offloaded to shuttle tankers via a tanker mooring and loading system. Gas from associated production is dried, compressed, metered and exported through a 4-inch line tied into the 20-inch A6-F3/NOGAT export pipeline. Well infrastructure includes multiple production and injector wells drilled into the reservoir, with water injection used for pressure support. Topside utilities comprise power generation (typically gas turbines), produced water handling, flare systems, and safety shutdown systems. Structural and subsea design emphasises stability and long-term integrity in ~43-m water depth; corrosion protection, remote monitoring, and maintenance access are core stable features.
