Intro

D15-A is a fixed production platform in the Dutch sector of the Southern North Sea, installed in 1999. It processes primarily natural gas with some liquids and serves as a central production and treatment hub for nearby satellite fields such as Sillimanite and Wingate, routing fluids into the Dutch export network. It connects via subsea pipelines to satellites.

Field

D15-A sits atop the D15 gas area, associated with multiple conventional North Sea gas accumulations including Wingate and Sillimanite fields. These produce dry to moderately rich gas from Rotliegendes and related reservoirs in the Netherlands’ continental shelf, and are developed via a network of fixed platforms and subsea wells feeding to D15-A for conditioning and export.

Facilities

D15-A’s infrastructure comprises drilled production wells and manifolds that gather gas from satellite installations and subsea tie-backs. Topside functions include multi-phase separation to strip water and condensate, dehydration to meet pipeline quality specifications, gas metering and compression to maintain export pressures. The platform integrates high-capacity electrical generation and control systems to support continuous processing, SCADA supervisory control, emergency shutdown and fire/gas detection. Utility systems include instrument air, cooling water, and fuel gas handling for turbines. Export routes feature subsea pipelines linking to the NGT (Noordgastransport) system conveying treated gas onshore. Structural design supports wave and wind loading in the Central North Sea environment, with corrosion protection on topside and subsea assets. Periodic intervention by support vessels handles maintenance of risers, pipelines, and process modules. Redundancy in critical systems enhances long-term reliability for unmanned or minimally attended operation.
