Intro

Haven (often referenced as Q01-Haven-A) was a fixed oil production platform in the Dutch North Sea’s Q1/P9 area, installed in 1989. It produced oil from the adjacent Haven field and exported crude to shore. Production has ceased and the installation is in decommissioning or removal phases alongside other Q1/P9 oil platforms.

Field

The Haven field is part of the broader Helder/Helm/Hoorn/Horizon complex in Block Q of the Dutch North Sea with Lower Cretaceous sandstone reservoirs. Discovered in the late 1970s and early 1980s, these fields were developed with multiple platforms. Haven’s reservoirs comprised oil with associated gas, contributing to Dutch offshore crude production during their operational life.

Facilities

Haven’s facilities were configured for crude oil production from multiple wells tied into the platform’s steel jacket structure, with primary separation and metering for export. The platform exported stabilized crude via subsea pipeline networks to onshore terminals, and produced associated gas was either flared or exported according to field connections at the time. Utilities included platform power generation systems, fire and safety systems, and accommodations for personnel when operational. In its decommissioning phase, wells are being plugged, topsides and jackets removed, and seabed restoration undertaken per regulatory requirements. The design reflected typical 1980s North Sea oil production platforms with robust processing and export capabilities tailored to the shallow Block Q reservoirs.
