Intro
K6P is the primary production and processing platform within the K06 gas field development on the Dutch Continental Shelf. Installed as part of the early 1990s development, it receives hydrocarbons from satellite platforms like K6GT and K6N and performs core processing functions. It is integral to compression and export of gas from the K06 complex.
Field
The K06 gas field is a producing natural gas field in the Netherlands sector of the North Sea. It produces from conventional shallow marine Rotliegend and Zechstein reservoirs and was brought onstream in the early 1990s. The field’s infrastructure includes a central production hub and multiple satellite wellhead platforms.
Facilities
K6P houses manifold facilities for processing gas from the K06 field, including initial separation, dehydration and gas compression modules. It receives well fluids from its own wells and from satellite platforms (e.g., K6GT, K6N) via subsea flowlines. The platform’s topsides include separation trains, compressors to boost gas for export, and dehydration skids to prepare gas for pipeline transport. Export is typically via the regional Noordgastransport pipeline system to onshore treatment and markets. Power generation systems supply electricity for processing equipment, controls and utilities; water handling is limited to produced water management and minimal utility water distribution. Remote monitoring and control equipment interfaces with shore-based facilities to ensure safe unmanned operation during routine periods.
